Stories From Our Streets Creative Writing Workshops

About Us
If you enjoy writing, or think you would like to have a go, why not spend a fun and informative morning developing your skills in a creative writing workshop at the Castle?
There are two different workshops to sign up to ‘Bringing Characters to Life’ and ‘Space and Place’, and no experience in required for either. You can sign up for one, or both, it’s up to you!
Both workshops are facilitated on behalf of ArtfulScribe by writer and lecturer Emma Scattergood, who launched the MA in Creative Writing and Publishing at Bournemouth University, and The Bournemouth Writing Prize, as well as running BU’s publishing press Fresher Publishing.
You will be invited to explore different ways of capturing characters and settings using observation, imagination, detail and metaphor, taking inspiration from the people and places that form part of your daily life.
The workshops are being offered as part of ArtfulScribe’s Stories From Our Streets project, which is creating a community story map of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, and populating it with everyday stories to celebrate the voices of our diverse communities. We want to hear from everyone – a story from every postcode – to learn what, where and who in BCP makes your day or holds a special place in your memories and thoughts. Who are the treasured characters of your neighbourhood? What tales do the streets, parks and buildings want to tell?
Tickets are free for this workshop – workshop only access. If you wish to explore the Castle after, you will need to purchase an admission ticket.
