What's On: June 2026

A Month of Outdoor Music, Activity and Theatre

Welcome to June in Christchurch: a month of long evenings, outdoor adventures, and live music drifting across the Quay. From the return of Summer Sounds on the Bandstand to open‑air theatre at Highcliffe Castle, regatta river races to classic cars, afternoon garden gigs to a sea‑shanty night on Mudeford Quay, this is the moment the town truly comes alive. Whether you’re here for culture, community, or simply soaking up the sunshine by the water, there’s something special waiting for you this month.

Summer Sounds on the Bandstand

Wednesday evenings from 3 June on Christchurch Quay, 7-8pm

Picture the scene: it’s a warm summer evening down on Christchurch Quay. The river is calm, the sun is dipping low, and the Victorian bandstand is ready to come alive. Families wander down with picnic blankets, friends settle onto hay bales, and dogs on leads curl up contentedly at their feet. Laughter carries across the grass as the first notes of live music float into the air. Welcome to Summer Sounds on the Bandstand: Christchurch’s free, open‑air community music series, bringing people together every Wednesday evening for 5 weeks to enjoy the best local musicians and bands. From big‑band swing and soulful singers to rock ’n’ roll, choirs, and community groups, every performance is completely free and full of heart. As the music plays, the Boathouse kiosk stays open until 9pm, serving drinks so you can relax, unwind, and make the most of the long summer evenings by the water.
