May brings a burst of fresh foodie flavours, springtime revels and celebration. With bright days perfect for exploring, and two Bank Holiday weekends, whether you’re planning a family outing or a spring getaway, there’s plenty to enjoy across the town, harbour and coastline.
May Revels

2 May 2026 at Red House Museum and Gardens
Red House Museum and Gardens is planning a merry celebration of springtime folk, music, dance and festivities. This new community event right in the heart of our historic town promises fun for the whole family!
Expect live music in the gardens from Murphy's Lore, three displays by Anonymous Morris Dancers, maypole dancing and folk dancing. Take part in folk songs and stories, paper flower garland and crown making, and the traditional and historic games tent, packed with hands‑on, playful activities from Drakos Dottir. BBQ and cream teas will be available in the garden.
Christchurch Cheese & Chilli Festival

16–17 May 2026 at Hurn
Get ready for a weekend of flavour, fire, and family fun as Christchurch Cheese & Chilli Festival returns for its 13th year. Whether you’re a heat‑chaser or simply love discovering new tastes, there’s something for everyone. Wander through bustling market stalls, sample everything from creamy local cheeses to eye‑watering hot sauces, and enjoy live cooking demos, music, and entertainment throughout the day. The legendary chilli‑eating competitions are back too - not for the faint‑hearted! For kids there are street show entertainers, balloon modellers and walkabout magic, a funfair, a mini funfair, Punch and Judy show, and crazy golf. It’s a brilliant day out, with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere - even dogs on leads are welcome, so the whole family can join the fun.
Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

17 May 2026 at Christchurch High Street
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride unites classic and vintage styled motorcycle riders to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health. This year, it will start at Poole Quay and make its final stop on Christchurch High Street. Turn out to enjoy the spectacle of dapper dressing and a wide variety of motorbikes!
Food Fest Local

23–24 May 2026 at Christchurch High Street
Running alongside Christchurch Food Festival, and based in the heart of Christchurch town centre, Food Fest Local gives you the opportunity to enjoy Christchurch presented by our fantastic local businesses, whilst enjoying a selection of food traders and local entertainment across the late May Bank Holiday weekend.
The High Street is set to come alive with food stalls, live music, family entertainment and more. Come and celebrate our local producers, chefs and coastal flavours!
Christchurch Food Festival

23–25 May 2026 at Christchurch Quay
The iconic Christchurch Food Festival returns to Christchurch Quay for the late May Bank Holiday weekend: an outdoor showcase of the best food, drink, and hospitality from across the region. Since its launch in 2000, the free festival has grown into one of the South Coast’s flagship culinary events, drawing tens of thousands of visitors and shining a spotlight on Christchurch’s thriving food scene.
Expect artisan producers, award‑winning street food, chef demonstrations, live entertainment, family activities, and a buzzing festival atmosphere right by the river. It’s an open-air celebration of local talent, independent makers, and the joy of sharing great food in one of the most beautiful settings in Dorset.
RNLI Mudeford Blue Light Day and Lifeboat Station Open Day
to Mudeford Quay Green, BH23 4AB
A chance to meet local Police, Fire Brigade and other Emergency Search & Rescue services and the people who run them.
Mudeford Quay Green comes alive with almost 20 Emergency and Community Services providing information and demonstrating their organisations. Mudeford Lifeboat Station is open and welcomes visitors. This is a free event but donations are welcome.
