Welcome to Christchurch

Discover Christchurch: a riverside town where coast, countryside and history come together. Christchurch is a historic Saxon town where rivers, coast and countryside meet. With golden beaches on one side and the green edges of the New Forest on the other, it's a place where you can slow down, explore, and enjoy the place where rivers, beaches and woodland all meet.

Peacefully set between the Rivers Stour and Avon, Christchurch is home to the impressive Priory church - the longest parish church in England - nestled at the town's heart and central to its history. It shapes the character of the surrounding riverside paths, historic streets and the town centre full of character. Cobbled paths lead to the ruins of the old Norman castle overlooking the water, while leafy parks and riverside glades open out onto life at the Quay.

You might explore the Norman house, take a gentle stroll along the Quay, or spend a day at family-friendly Avon Beach, a Blue Flag award-winner. Wander through the town's historic streets, explore the thriving High Street with its Monday open-air market, and enjoy a mix of independent boutiques, shops and welcoming eateries. Christchurch is proud of its food scene, so why not treat yourself to a memorable meal? From fresh local seafood to independent bistros, cosy cafés and relaxed bars, there's something for every taste.
